Anyone feel like scores were lower than expected??

well, after studying for all summer and early part of school year studying i epic failed at the act (by my standards this is epic failing)

Eng: 28
Math: 29
Read: 25
Sci: 28

I went through the PR book, Real ACT, and the free ACT practice tests the hs have, which was the equivalent of about 6-7 practice tests, all under time contraints and what not. Had great scores: Eng was always between 34-36, Math was about 32-33, and Reading and sci were about 28-30. So I'm just a little frustrated because I went from potenial Dukie to not. Anyone else feeling this way?

yesssssss
i am really upset…i got a 24
i am also looking into duke…i was suppose to apply early, i guess that is not happening.

i actually need to study now for this test!

Its just so frustrating cause the only thing seriously lacking in my app is my SAT/ACT reading scores! Everything else is great. Maybe they’ll see that I got a 4 on the AP English exam and be like, “hey this kid can read! Just not on some saturday morning” hahah

Got a 20 composite. Confident to say that I guessed on half of the test, though. Didn’t study at all. Lacking motivation. ■■■.

Scores aren’t that important anyway, especially SAT score in particular (means nothing, ACT has some value, but there’s more important things).

I don’t think taking practice tests over and over helps unless you learn from them.

My score dropped from a 32 to a 31 but I expected it because I was pretty sick on the test date.

hey that exact thing happened to me. really. I think the score machine made mistake, so I am going to get mine hand scored. But I registered for October just in case :(

Other than the transcript, test scores are the most important part of the application. And SAT scores mean more than “nothing.”

Sort of disappointed with my 30, I felt like I had done better. First time taking it, I hope I can raise it to 32 with some prep.

I was hoping and pretty confident that I would get a 32, instead I got the exact same scores for another 31. I pretty much feel like I wasted a ton of my time, I’m pretty dissapointed. The first time I took it I was very sick so I figured I would bump it up one point by default, plus studying! But i guess I was wrong.
Oh well, I’m still very proud of my 31!

“Other than the transcript, test scores are the most important part of the application”

not at Ivies.

The Ivies… where almost everyone wants to go except me.

the scale was probably ridiculous since everyone I talked to thinks they did really good

If you’re consistently struggling to score higher than you expect, lower your expectations. You’re not nearly as intelligent as you hold yourself to be. The test is incredibly easy. If you’re scoring in the low to mid-20 range, it is hardly a matter of apathy, but a matter of mental retardation.

No one here is interested in your arrogant attitude. Go abuse your non-existant friends instead. Maybe they will care about your fascinating stories on how you took an IQ test and how you’re so great. Unforuntately, no one else really cares.

Test scores are extremely important especially at the Ivies. If you don’t have the academics, your EC’s/essays/recs will not get you in.

I completely agree with you. I totally forgot that I was living in America again.

We have a winrar! Olololololol

LOL! (10 char)

Time and time again, I wish I was like you!!! For the SAT and ACT I do well on reading, but for the life of me I do poorly on the rest of the test. I’m guessing math and grammar can be learned and reading is a harder skill to achieve, but 1st I thought it was a fluke when I did well on SAT reading, but I got a 30 on ACT reading, so I’m guessing it wasn’t just a fluke…

Wow! I am glad someone feels EXACTLY how I feel.

I studid the WHOLE summer; Real ACT, Barron’s, McGrawhill- ALL practice tests. I scored a 30. again. I went froma 32 to 27 on English (???).

Should I get mine hand scored? Perhaps the curve was just high.
