I took the ACT and got a 34. In each section, I got a 35 on English, 34 on Math, 33 on Science and 33 on Reading. I consider myself a math person, and was blown away by my English score. I got a 9 the essay, and have only taken the test once.
My question is, should I retake the test? I don’t know what to do, and I plan on applying to schools like Villanova, Notre Dame, and the like.
You are finished with testing, IMO. The exception is if you are aiming for scholarships which are dependent on certain test scores. I would certainly never advise a student of mine to retake a 34, especially as your scores are pretty evenly balanced. A friend’s kid got a 34, but had a big gap because one section was noticeably lower than the other sections. I said in that case, retaking is okay, but not necessary. Your score puts you in the 99th percentile. Relax and concentrate on homework and AP tests.
