Most universities consider the highest score that one's received. But do they consider the higher of the ACT and SAT? For instance, I received a 28 on the ACT (retaking in Sept) but my SAT is a 1840. Not that drastic of a difference but will they focus more on my 28 than my 1840? Please reply if you are 100% sure.

you could always just submit your ACT by itself. most colleges don't require both.

The problem is that the colleges I'm serious in already have both tests...

The policy of essentially all colleges is to consider for admission that test score of the two that they believe is the higher. Note which will be considered the higher is not something you can determine by looking at on-line ACT/SAT score comparison charts since many colleges have their own comparison charts that do not comport with those you find on-line.

How much of an issue either score is depends on where you are applying, and what else will appear in your application.

The reply you already received from drusba is correct that colleges will look at the two scores in a way that gives you the benefit of the higher score.

Thanks all, but I emailed the college I'm ed-ing and they said they'll consider my ACT over my SAT. Thanks again.
