ACT/SAT - should i prepare for both?

i'm debating whether to take both the SAT and the ACT this fall... i am planning to do a princeton review prep course (which starts in a week's time) for the SAT. i don't think it is a good idea to be doing prep courses for both. i plan to take a sample ACT exam to see how i do in comparison to the SAT. i am going to be a senior starting fall and haven't taken either test yet..:(
so should i figure out which test i am instinctively better at and go from there? also, do schools prefer one over the other. please help.

Yes. Figure out which test you are better at then spend your time studying for that one.

ACT's are gay, take the SAT

Severed, I didn't know a test could have orientation.

severed, i believe what you are implying is that the SAT is not as terrible a concept as the ACT. You are wrong, and College board is so much more evil than ACT.

Practice them 1 at a time. I personally perferred studying for the SAT 1ST, Then the ACT.

Well I took it this morning, and was largely unsatisfied with it.
Maybe its because ive being preparing for SAT's most of my life and really just taking the ACT's at the last moment.

ill go against severed here:
ACT was way easier than SAT I for me. :)

It's funny my screw-ups and near fiasco with the PSAT (216 Junior Year) coupled with my anger at the SAT for trying to trip me up on a practice test (full-fledged proctored for small fee at school) added to the triple facts of me missing the March SAT deadline by 5 min, getting a 35 with virtually no prep on the ACT (which doesn't try to intentionally trip you and kick you while you're down), and college board not separating SAT 1 and SAT 2's into separate score reports all have contributed to my hate of the collegeboard. And then, so ironically, i get a 2400 on my first real SAT
