Act < Sat?

I just took the practice ACT questions on its website, and I found it A LOT easier than the SATs. Is this true?

Also, what is the difference between the two? Should I take both or just the ACT?

Thanks

I'd advise taking both. The SAT questions are generally a lot trickier than ACT questions, but in the ACT, time is a HUGE factor whereas it's not too important in the SAT. Different people perform differently on each test. I did way better on the ACT, but some people do better on the SAT, and others do about the same.

In the math section, the ACT tests slightly more difficult material, but it shouldn't be too much of a problem if you're nerdy enough to come on CC =P

The reading section of the ACT is generally a lot more straightforward than the SAT, because the ACT mainly tests things that are in the passage - the SAT likes to make you infer things.

The writing sections (English section in the ACT) are fairly comparable in what they test, but I always had a far easier time with the ACT... The essays are graded in a similar (identical?) manner, but the ACT tends to ask questions that relate more to high schoolers (the two I took were: "Should extracurricular activities be supported by schools?" and "Should homework be assigned?").

Finally, the science section. This is ACT-exclusive so it seems a bit intimidating, but it's more of a reasoning test than a science test. They tell you how to solve a problem, give you data, and see if you can process the data given what they told you... Time tends to be a major issue in this section, but if you've taken the class already (ACT tests Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Earth Science), you probably won't even have to read the passage (e.g. If you took Physics, you won't need to read about basic volt/current/resistance type stuff; if you took Biology, you wouldn't need to read a passage about evolution; if you took Chemistry, you wouldn't need to read about basic atom structure; if you took Earth Science... I have no idea, cause I never took it =P).

Hope that helped! If you need anything else, ask again, and I'll try to get back to you (or somebody else will, I'm sure)
