ACT Score Competitive?

I took the September ACT with writing and got a 36 composite score (35E, 36M, 36S, 36R) and a 9 on my essay. I’m worried that my essay score is not as competitive as my composite score. Will this affect my chances? Is a 9 considered a competitive score for say, Harvard or Ivy League schools?

Are you being disingenuous or is this a humblebrag?

You got a 36, which is obviously a great score. Harvard, and many of its peers, have made the essay optional for this admissions cycle, in part, because they feel that the Common App essays give them a better sense of your writing skills. So if you get rejected, it will not be the result of a 9 (which, BTW, is still 95th percentile). Good luck.

I’m sorry if I came across as a braggart. I was genuinely curious. Thanks for the advice!
