ACT Score

I got a question!!

I am a junior in high school right now, maybe it's too early for me to ask this kind of a question but i need to know this. Will the University of Illinois at Chicago accept me if i got on my ACT 19 and my high school current GPA is 5.03(weighted GPA) and 4.93(non-weighted GPA). Is it still possible for me to go there, even though my Act Score is not so good. Will they accept me??

Do you guys know the requirements at the University of Illinois at Chicago???

Do i have to take the essay part too, is it required??

check their website.

EDIT: ok, that wasn't very useful. I would say your GPA looks pretty good, but why not take the ACT again? oh, and do check the website if you want to know the ACT requirements, in terms of writing or not

no offense...but an extremely high gpa and extremely low act will bring considerable attention to how hard your classes are. Obiously they are not that hard and the U of C illinois will see that. try taking the sat. I did not do so well on the act...but find the sat much more friendly

You can't have an unweighted GPA of 4.93...

19...not just for this board, but that is pretty bad, no offense.

Actually my high school and my classes are pretty good. Our teacher told us that it is in the top 5 in Illinois( i don't know if that is true or not, but that's what he said). And next year i am going to have AP Economics and Honors Chemistry. The problem with me is that i am not a American. I came to America 6 years ago so it is not that easy for me, especially the reading part of the ACT. I think I ma going to take it again but I dont think that it will help me!!!

I also heard that one girl got 16 or 17 on her ACT and they still accepted her because of her high GPA.

TAWS I copy my GPA from my "Student Grade Report," i got it in front of me!! so it is possible !!!

I'm not kidding...19 is below average....it isn't that great, and I won't rely on it! Like everyone else said, if your grade is high, and your ACT really low, then it will seem as if your school is inflated. Take the ACT again when you're more prepared!

I would definatly consider taking the ACT again, but remember that some people just don't standardize test well and you may have really good EC's or recomondations or something which could give you a shot. Were the ACT scores split between different sections, if some sections were significantly lower than others maybe you could focas lots of studding in those areas. Number of AP classes counts too. In terms of the GPA, some schools have weird scales (or some, like mine, have none at all) so probably under some systems a 4.94 is possible.

I don't see how you can have an UNWEIGHTED GPA (no extra points added) of more than 4 on a 4.0 scale...

That's just it though, maybe his GPA is on a different scale.

I've done considerable research on UIC. If my memory serves me correctly, the average ACT for regular undergrad is between 24-26. Try to bring that score up if you haven't already, IMO a 19 is a little low, even for a public university.

I would say you have a pretty good chance since your gpa is quite good. If you add in any ECs or anything that makes you stand out, I'm sure that'll overshadow the 19 on your ACT. Just this year, a senior at my school got accepted into Harvard with a 19 on his ACT. He had an almost perfect GPA on a 4.0 scale and he was the president of 2 clubs (including student council). I guess he got in because he had good grades, great reccomendations, great ECs, and most importantly, at least I think so, is a URM. I'm sure UIC will accept you.
