ACT Scores and first choice major

So, I already took the ACT back in feb. However, for Engineering (mostly Mech.), the avg is 31, so clearly I need at least 33 to stay safe. I am working on that no worries next test on OCTOBER 22. HOWEVER, since I have already taken it, and didn’t score above 30, my test score will show up as 28. The problem is, the results for the october test will come probably late november-early december, which means that they will only see my 28 until the time being.
Problem:
Since my scores will probably come in past the application deadline, I don’t want them to just send me to my second major instead of waiting for my scores and hopefully giving me my first choice major. Is there anyway to prevent that from happening? I hope that was easy to understand.

How did you find the average scores for the specific school? I thought they don’t release those

just look it up (google).
Ex: UT Austin avg. act for engineering or something like that

They take test scores through the end of December. The scores should get there before the deadline if you sign up for them to be sent as soon as they are ready. You most likely will not get into an engineering major until late February.
