Is it possible to get into USC with a 27 on my ACT? All other factors aside, if all other aspects of the application are pretty great will a 27 eliminate me completely in the admissions process? I am not low income and do not have a special triumphant story of rising from poverty or being a first generation.
Anything is possible is all I can say. I’m a junior in high school so I’m not an expert, but from what I’ve seen around here there’s a lot of factors in an application. It’s a holistic process, your GPA will need to compensate for it, and your extra curriculars need to be phenomenal. It’s okay if you’re not low income or have a story about rising from poverty, think about how many people do the generic rising from poverty, or the first generation student. I’ve seen many seniors at my high school use that. Your essay needs to be about you and your story, if you shine through that essay, then it won’t matter where you come from, but who you are and what USC can provide for you. How can you give back to the world by attending USC? Overall, something that is still hard for me to accept is that it’s okay to be rejected from a college, even if it’s your first choice. Look at other schools and really find a school that’s the right fit for you. Don’t get your heart set on one school as I have. USC is my first choice and my heart is set on it so I am not one to give you this particular advice. However, I can tell you that I am coming to terms with accepting that USC could possibly not happen as much as I have a fondness for it, and that’s okay. I want to attend a college that is the right fit for me. I do think that USC is the right fit for me, but the admission officers know best. Overall, good luck.
Are you a recruited athlete or you have a major donor in your family? Possible and likelihood have a big gap in between.
nope. Just a normal kid with lots of ambition. My ACT score is low as I said, but I m=am pretty confidant about all other aspects of my application.
