Is it possible to get a 36 on a section if you miss a question? Or is 36 possible only with a perfect score?

Perfect score only

Not entirely

Composite 36
36, 36, 36, 34

OR

Composite 36

36, 36, 35, 35

YOu can see that with both of those score sets the composite is 35.5, which gets rounded up to a 36

He said section....not composite, which throws your theory out!

hehehehe......

you got me!

BUT, it is possible if the test is hard enough b/c 36 is based on percentiles....

It is possible, but its like 1%. The fact is, the 36 is a sign of perfection for the ACT. Missing one isn't perfect. I hate the ACT for its bad curve in general.

A HA! So you admit it !

My new theory is correct!

Yeah, the ACT curve sucks

I never said it was right...I said it is possible. But out of all the ACT scoring guides I've seen (20+), I've never seen a 36 be not perfect.

sheez........

WHy am I arguing?

resigns...>_<'

So I win. :-D

I think we are taking it too far with this.....lol

But, for the record, I definitely win! :D

Really? Do they specifically say that you need perfect for a 36?

a more general question- on each section how does scoring work? Is it for example:
You get 50/60 questions right on the math section, meaning about 83% correct. Then your score is 83% of 36 for that section, 30?

Or is it based strickly on percentiles?

----bump----

It is possible to miss one and get a 36. My daughter twice got scores of 36 on Mathematics, missing one question each time.

. owned .

No I don't believe CCSurfer.

Man...i really don't even wanna think about ACT. lol. I'm thinkin prolly...

32 in English
26 in Math
31 in Reading
25 in Science

29 Composite -- hopefully

Response to glucose101: On her last ACT, her breakdown of scores on Mathematics were:

Pre-Algebra/Elem. Alg. 18
Alg./Coor. Geometry 17
Plane Geometry/Trig. 18
Mathematics 36

I may be wrong, but I'm assuming that the 17 score means that she missed one.

When did she take her last ACT?
