ACT scoring

Hi!
I have just received my ACT score back. I got a 28, which I am not too thrilled with, but I plan on retaking it in October with the help of Kaplan. However, I got a 9 on my essay, which I am happy with. So if I were to take just the ACT in October and got a score I was satisfied with, would colleges look at this score and my 9 essay? Or will colleges who require essays make it be all in one test?

thanks y'all!

The essay is not important, as long as you have a 7-8 or above. The combined English/writing score, however, is often considered. You’ll have to look at school websites, but many will consider the highest combined E/w score you submit, and your highest composite. I think you need to take it with writing again though, or I’m not sure if they will accept the new composite.

thank you!
