ACT Subscore Importance

Hello all, I recently read on U of I's admissions website that they put a lot of weight in the subscores of the ACT, particularly with engineering applicants. I recently got a 32, which I thought would put me in a fairly comfortable position. However, on the math and science sections I only earned a 31 and 30 respectively. How much will this hurt me when they review my application, if at all? In case a little context would help, I have taken (or will have taken) a science class every year, and a total of 6 math classes (doubled up twice), and expect a 3.8-3.9 UW GPA.

Also, I live in Illinois. I have no clue if that will increase my chances or not.

I know the Math subscore is looked at. I’m not sure if it’s only looked at as a tie-breaker if you’re on the bubble between acceptance or rejection, however. Applying during the Priority period may also increase your chances slightly.

Being instate and with a 3.8 UW GPA & a 32 ACT(despite a 30 on Math) - you should be good for UIUC!! :D

Also applying Priority would help!!
All the best!
