ACT - Superscore or use score choice?

Hello, I’ve taken the ACT twice. On my first try, my composite was 34, and I scored higher in the English, Math and Science sections than on my second try. On my second try, the only section in which I improved was Reading (+4 points), while my English and Math scores fell, my Science score fell significantly (-6 points), and my composite dropped to 33.

I’m applying to several schools that superscore the ACT across multiple sittings but allow score choice and do not require one to send in all of one’s scores. In my case, would it be better to send in scores from both tests, or just the scores from my first try? If I send in scores from both tests, it seems the only benefit would be the higher Reading score from my second try, whereas the downside is that the schools would see that my English, Math and Science scores and composite score all fell on the 2nd try. I know the schools’ superscore policy says they will look at the highest score from each section if scores from multiple sittings are submitted, but it seems a bit hard to believe, practically speaking, that they would ignore the fact that my scores fell (almost) across the board on my second sitting.

What is your composite super score?

Composite superscore is 35 (36E + 36M + 35R + 32S).

If a school says they superscore then they really do. Be wary of some vague languages at some schools that only say they consider the highest sub scores. This does not always mean they recalculate a new composite score. What schools are you appying to? Some schools like John Hopkins specifically say they recalculate the composite score. I would say the difference between a 34 and 35 is pretty minimal that it won’t have any difference in regards to your admissions.
