ACT Test Seats Full...

Hey I just joined this site, and I’ve been putting off signing up for the ACT until the last minute, and I am so screwed . All the seats are taken at the three schools that are distributing the test this year in my state.

I live in Hawaii so there are only a few schools available, so I couldn’t just drive an hour early to go to another city. There’s only 5 test in Hawaii overall and 3 of them are here on Oahu, but the other two have seats and are on other islands. Is there any way that I could get into one of these ACT test here on Oahu? I’ve heard about stand-by testing but I think it’s only for the late fee as well right? I would also have to wait till May 21st and pay the late fee right?

I’m a Junior in High school. So should I just wait till Sep./Oct. or should I try to get in this one somehow?

also bonus question: SATs on saturday, anyone got helpful tips?

That’s too bad. You’re going to have to either take it in October or bribe someone on test day to take their seat after registering (which is unlikely)

My tip for tmrrw’s SAT is relax and get a good night’s sleep.

Since u are shut out of the June ACT, consider retaking the SAT in June to super-score. The registration deadline is 11-May.

I agree that you should take the SAT again on June 4th. Then, you should go as a standby for the June 11th ACT. The ACT does not let you cancel a reservation. If someone who took the ACT in April and already registered for the June test in Oahu is so pleased with their results that they don’t plan to retest, then a seat frees up. My DD tested in Feb, and since her results did not come out in the first wave, I registered her for April (already the test center we preferred was full for ACT with writing.) When we got the results that she did awesome, I called to cancel the reservation but the ACT does not let you cancel. I was very surprised not only because I would have liked a refund but also because I knew the test centers fill up. The SAT and the ACT are similar enough that studying for the SAT will help for the ACT. Do a full practice ACT the week between the two exams and then focus on science and do as many practice science sections as you can. Good luck!
