I’m taking the ACT this Saturday. My first time I got a 2, but I didn’t know the format at all so I was completely unprepared for the time crunch. I have been taking practice tests I found online and reading into tips from other people who have gotten high scores, but I want tips from people here as well. I tend to get around 32-33 on practice tests. The main sections I need help on are the reading and math sections. Sometimes I browse the passage quickly, but when I get to the questions I end up having to keep re-reading and wasting time. When I read thoroughly I still have to go back. Any help with that? As far as math, I always thought I was good at it but it is always my lowest score. Tips?
A little late to say this but in case you attempt to do it again: Timing.
Section your tests for time goals to reach as per a certain question number. This is a great motivator, especially for the math test as their is no passage break from start to end. Also, ensure that the slotted times allow you time in the end for revision. Even if it seems absurd to be able to complete a certain test with 10 or 5 minutes left, it’s very possible.
