ACT vs GPA in Illinois Colleges

What do Illinois colleges weigh more in the admission process? ACT score or GPA?

Check out the Common Data Set, Section C7, for each. For UIUC [University of Illinois: Student Enrollment Reports](Student Enrollment) GPA>ACT.

Typically, GPA and course difficulty have more weight than test scores but test scores are important and that is true of almost any college that requires test scores not just those in Illinois. How much of a difference in weight can vary among colleges and probably can vary somewhat even among reviewers who are reviewing the applications at the same college. In any event, if you are below the middle 50% range for the college’s usual freshman in either GPA or test score, you should assume admission is a reach (but that does not mean you should avoid applying).
