applying to harvard, brown, columbia, and pomona. which scores should i send?

sat round 1:
700 reading
750 math
690 writing

sat round 2:
730 reading
720 math
690 writing

act:
35 composite;
35 english
36 math
36 reading
31 science
31 eng/writing

sat ii:
780 us history
800 math ii
760 biology e

i thought of just sending them all, esp. since i'm required to send the sat ii scores anyway (and thus it would all cost the same amount of $$$ to me). also, i applied to harvard previously and submitted ALL my scores then; would it be obvious that i'm withholding information if i only send one or the other? (they told me they 'might' still have them on file.)

if i do submit all scores, will they actually consider both (the act and sat), or just pay attention to the better of the two? what do you think? can sending my sat scores just for the sake of not withholding anything actually HURT me?!?

also, if it's the case that i end up sending some but not all of my scores, would it be morally wrong to withhold self-reporting some of the scores on the common app? i only want to self-report the ones for which i'm actually sending in official reports.

At Columbia, you must send all scores from all exams for all sittings. I strongly encourage you to follow the rules, for two reasons: 1) Columbia will consider your best scores, so why not, especially considering your scores are fine? 2) If you try to cheat, you may get caught, in which case you might as well not apply.

wow, i had no idea columbia had such a policy. definitely don’t want to be deceptive. thanks pbr.

what about for the other schools? is the difference between my act and sat scores negligible? should i just report all of them then? i’m suspecting that my act score is probably better than my sat one, but who knows; i don’t know if the scores are even comparable to one another since they’re entirely different tests.

yalefanboy, here is the website quote you’re looking for:

“Standardized tests are required for admission according to the following guidelines: all test scores must be submitted directly to Columbia by the testing agency. Please note that Columbia requires that students submit scores from all test dates.”

As I stated earlier, at Columbia, you must submit all scores from all exams for all sittings. The only variance is that because the ACT charges for each score delivery, you may self-report all ACT results except for your highest score. You need to pay ACT to deliver your highest score.

thank you everybody. i went ahead and just sent them all. hopefully they’ll arrive before the deadline, and hopefully the admissions staff will consider the best of my scores and not frown on my weaker scores.
