I struggle with which test my daughter should take. She performs much better on the ACT than the SAT…but we live on the east coast and are looking at east coast colleges. Do admissions officers treat ACT test results equal to the SAT results?
Yes, either test is acceptable today. Decades ago though, ACT was more midwest, SAT was more coastal.
We have been to info sessions and tours at 10 east coast universities (Boston to Baltimore) and at every information session, the admissions rep has stated “we have no preference between SAT and ACT.”
We’ve been visiting a lot of LAC on the east coast, and they’re all saying either standardized test scores are optional or they have no preference. Larger schools want to see them, but again, they’ve said no preference.
