I know both are widely accepted for almost every college but which one do y’all think is better? In terms of diffculty, resources for studying, scholarships and scores ratio, and how many times you can take it? I’m extremely nervous…
College admissions officers view them as equivalent.
My son’s guidance counselor said that in her experience 1/3 of students do better on the SAT, 1/3 do better on the ACT, and 1/3 do the same on both exams. I suggest you take a practice test of each one and see if one exam works better for you than the other.
It’s going to vary by the person. My daughter scored pretty equally on both; my friend’s son did much, much better on the ACT but her other son did much better on the ACT.
Find a local test prep place. They will usually administer a practice test for free or very low cost.
According to my son (36 ACT, 1500 SAT), the ACT questions are easier, but you have less time to answer them. If you can work fast, you will probably do better on the ACT. If you tend to need more time process questions and come up with the correct answer, you will probably do better on the SAT.
Neither is “better”, they’re just a little different. Take a couple sample tests of each and see which aligns better with your thinking process/working style.
It won’t be wasted time - they’re not that different and practice on either will help on both.
IMHO, no need to find a prep service to do sample tests - many official practice tests are available online. Just do them yourself under strictly accurate time constraints.
