ACT w/ or w/o writing dilemma? Worth retake?

So as a junior (before i discovered the wonders of CC) I took the December ACT W/O WRITING with no studying and managed a 29. I discovered CC and began preparing for the State mandated ACT and averaged a composite of 35 after doing all the Practice tests in the "Red Book," but sadly only got a 32. Problem is that the state only gave the ACT without writing, and the writing section is require by Stanford, Berkeley, Cornell, Columbia.

So should I just forget about applying to these schools or take a ACT w/ Writing in hopes of acquiring a more competitive score?

Thanks.

Yes. Though it is possible to get into these schools with a 32, it would be very difficult to do so. It is my belief for each and every one of those four points that you are lacking your chances will increase significantly with each one you attain. Retake it, get the score you deserve, and write an essay :).
