So I took the ACT twice:

First Time:
composite - 32
writing - 7

Second Time:
composite - 30
writing - 10

Should I submit the first one? (Will the writing score hurt me?) Or should I submit both? I plan on applying to Duke, Vanderbilt, and Emory, if that helps. Thanks!

I would submit both, so they see the breakdown in the subscores. But I would check the policy for each school, first.

Some schools Superscore - meaning they take the best subject score for each particular subject, ie Math, Science, English, etc.

Other schools take the best test date sitting. You can look in the admissions section for each school to see what they honor. If you can’t find it spelled out, sometimes if you google on the website - Vanderbilt + admissions + testing policy you might get the answer you are looking for.

Schools like University of California take the best day of testing and throw everything else out. Other schools do it differently. You just have to look and see for each school to know for sure.

^ WOOOOOOOO 2 billion posts !!!

Are you a moderator or a net geek ?

Some sort of computer glitch when I signed up for my account. I started with 2 billion, so I do have quite a big jump on everyone else!

A few of the CC math kids have told me precisely what the number means, but I cannot recall the specifics.
