This is my first attempt at an ACT Writing Test. I don't have any one to mark my essay or let me know where I stand. I would really appreciate if you guys help me with it and let me know an estimation of my marks according to this attempt. Also, I wanted to know about the length my essay should be of. Please discuss any other tips for the ACT Writing you know of (I had issues with time management).

Schools in some states have changed their school calendars so that they are now year-round schools. Advocates of year-round schooling argue that the traditional summer break is a waste of students’ time that could otherwise be spent learning. Opponents charge that today’s students are already overburdened with the stresses of school, and need the summer to get a much needed break. In your view, should the traditional three-month summer vacation from school be maintained?

Why is it mandatory for a human to sleep? Simply because the human body functions in a way that it requires rest and a break. Students are the same humans and summer break for them is similar to sleep for humans. Time and again, the word 'relaxation' has been put up in the spotlight simply because it is that important, including in the field of education. This relaxation is experienced by the student during the summer break. Taking away summer break from students would be like taking away their right to relax as humans.

Obviously this relaxation for students cannot be thought of as doing nothing. The context of the word is different for different individuals: be it travelling, be it following one's pursuits, be it experimenting with new things, or be it just having a new experience. All these forms of relaxation are significant as to groom an individual and specialize him as a unique personality. This will, in turn, 'charge' him up and also help him give his optimal performance educationally. Given all the burden has while attending school, it is out-of-question for him to completely relax without a summer break.

While some may say that relaxation for a student is not that important and only grades are what matter the most, they fail to realize that in today's day and age, elite colleges prefer students who are all-rounders. Experimenting with new things and just being able to take part in community service can only come if the student is provided with time to do so, that is summer vacations. Thus, I am an adherent of the cluster that believes that summer breaks should be maintained, in order to not hinder a student's ability to shine bright.
