Topic -Schools in some states have changed their school calendars so that they are now year-round schooling argue that the traditional summer break is a waste of student's time that could otherwise be spent learning period. Opponents charge that today's students are already overburdened with the stress of school and need the summer to get a much need break. In your view, should the traditional three-month summer vacation from school be maintained.

Summer vacation does provide a break from the stress of schoolwork, but I dont think it is necessary. I strongly agree that year-round schooling would be more beneficial than schooling with the traditional three-month break because year-round schooling lead to less stress for a student, and students wouldnt forget valuable information over their summer vacation.

Those who argue that a three-month summer vacation can provide a break from stress of school, but such a break would only create more stress during school. Teachers would be squeezing more information in a shorter amount of time. Thus, there would be more homework and projects in a shorter period of time, which will lead to more stress. If the school was year-round teacher would spend more time covering the information which would not only be more effective, but it would also lead to a workload that is stretched out over a longer period of time.

Along with the reduced stress from workload, teachers wouldnt have to worry about reviewing last years material which most students would have forgotten over the summer. As a high school student, I have found that summer is a time when I forget a lot of information. My calculus teacher was annoyed when the class average for our first quiz was failing. Most of the students had forgotten the math concepts covered in this quiz from last year resulting bad grades and an unhappy teacher.

In conclusion, I believe that year-round schooling can relieve some of the stress of school and prevent loss of knowledge during the unproductive summer vacations. This change from traditional summer break would make teacher happy because they wouldnt have to review as much material, and students would have a less burdensome workload.
