ACT+Writing Vs. ACT

I only have one last time to take the ACT's, and I need to raise my score preferebly 2 points. Now I am wondering, between the ACT and ACT+Writing, which one colleges would rather see the score to. My writing isn't stellar, it is mediocre, and if I score very highly on the ACT's and very low on writing I don't want the writing part to mess me up, especially when I didn't have to take it in the first place. I know when I took the SAT + Writing my writing score only turned out to be a 480 (Ouch). So is there any advice as to which test I should take?? Please help me!!

The Writing Section doesn't affect your composite - however, a good chunk of colleges still want to see it. Their is still an english section which tests your grammar; so I recommend that you take the Writing test because a good number of the "good" colleges will want to see it.

Note: The UC system are currently the only ones taking the English/Writing subscore into effect.

Most colleges will want you to take it with writing. Even if the ones you are considering do not require writing, they will be likely to look more favorably upon a candidate who has taken it. Also, don't worry about the effect it would have on your score. The writing section does not affect your composite score. Btw, the writing section on the ACT is just an essay. You will need to know grammar and other rules for the English section, which does factor into the composite score.
