Please share your experiences or share what you know :)

What types of questions do they ask?
How does improv part work? (any examples from your experiences)
How do they work with you on your monologue?
And how does the interview process work?
Basically what do they ask you to do in addition to performing your monologues?

Hey,
I auditioned at Point Park this past week for their BA program in acting. There were 9 acting applicants total who were led to the holding room and then went in to the audition room. We met the judges and participated in a really quick 2 min warm-up. We went back to the holding room and the musical theatre applicants who were also auditioning for acting joined us. They had to go first because they had a dance audition next. Six hours later you get called to wait outside for your turn. Then you’re auditioning. You do your piece. Thank them. And leave. They didn’t ask anyone questions or work on anyone’s monologues.

Blanche, they didn’t ask anyone to adjust their monologues or do things a different way? How about asking some people to do another monologue?

I auditioned a couple of weeks ago at NKU.

They asked me what I thought my strengths and weaknesses were and why I chose the play that I did. But I think they were asking people varying questions. Another person said that they asked him how long he had worked on his monologue

I’ve taken two improv classes (hopefully a third in January!) and had to do improv at my audition. Don’t stick out in a bad way. Meaning don’t go against what the group is doing. A big part of improv is teamwork. But at the same time don’t be shy. I think they want to see how well you work with others and how well you handle change/spontaneity. One of the improv games involved being different animals. Just throw yourself into whatever they ask you to do.

They didn’t work with me on my monologue. I know on CCM’s theatre page they do say that they might ask you to make an adujustment to your monologue.

There wasn’t much of an interview. Just two questions.

be on from the second you walk in. if they ask you to tell them about yourself start talking, make it interesting and don’t stop until they ask you to stop.

as far as your audition piece, don’t get caught in the act! And one last thing, be entertaining! MT or comedy or tragedy it better be entertaining!

No, surprisingly they didn’t work with anyone or ask anyone anything about their selections. It was very impersonal.
