Ok, I have a bit of an unusual situation when it comes to looking for a school.

Typically I see military people either stay in and go to some online college or get out and go to a state college route. I am currently enrolled at the University of Utah, taking classes part time untill I transfer. Before I enlisted I had enough credits to qualify as a Jr. at the U of Utah, with a 3.2 GPA. My high school record was, well, essentially nonexistant as I had taken the CHPSE (California High School Proficency Exam) in my Sophmore year of High School because I needed to work to support the family after my dad got injured. I went to community college, then transfered to Portland State University, but I couldn't afford tuition anymore and ended up enlisting in the AF to pay for college. Now my enlistment is almost up, and I've been stationed in utah for the last 4 years and honestly I'm not sure if I want to stay here because I am not mormon and have no real connection to the area.

I can afford to go anywhere I want now, not just public universities covered by the 9/11 GI Bill. Our family has had pretty much a 180 Degree turn financially, and my parents want to make up whatever difference there is between what the GI Bill covers and any private school I choose to go to one because they feel bad I had to test out of high school. If the tuition is $40,000 a year, it doesn't matter.

My question is, without financial barriers and with a 3.2 GPA, what's a good school to look for? My dad is really pushing the University of Rochester, but it seems highly selective and I don't think a 3.2 transfer GPA is going to get me in.

For someone with the financial resources to go anywhere without worrying about loan repayments, and a 3.2 GPA, does anyone know of any schools that might be worth a look? I'm looking for something with a conventional live-in campus, with a fairly involved campus life. I've kind of had it with commuter schools to be honest and I'd like to go to a school with some pride in itself. I'm a history major and I'd like to pursue a language minor.
