Hello everybody,

I'm currently enlisted in the active duty Air Force and have finally got my poker hand ready to bet on some Universities :). I came across this wonderful forum and have been digging around, but it would be great if some of my questions were addressed because admissions offices have been closed for four days and I can't wait any longer!

I will be applying to schools with the following tools as a transfer student:

CCAF Associates degree in integrated avionics, regionally accredited, horrible transferability.. But it allows me to apply as a transfer student. (Right?) :o

16 credits in Humanities, Maths, English, and Liberal arts at the local state University, which I maintained a 4.0 GPA at.. Not sure if that's impressive due to the school's small town persona..

200 and counting hours of community service, including flood relief efforts, several performance awards from commanding officers, early promotion granted to 15% of qualifying personnel, was in charge of 40 young men in basic training as dorm chief, squeaky clean record of service, champs of soccer extra-curricular sports at 3 bases nationally (weak, I know)..

References from father's political buddies, school teachers, commanding officer/enlisted members.

Basically my high school record was tremendously faulty, but now I have been doing my best to reverse my wrong doings. What I would like to know are the simple facts of whether or not the SAT I am taking in a week is even worth the effort because I am applying to Universities as a transfer student.. This may allow me the security of bombing the SAT and still applying for early decision in November, but if the SAT is a strong enough force I may retake it come the new semester and reapply in January for next fall.

Also, I have been getting mixed messages on whether schools like young enlisted members or give them any bias for having served out a full contract without getting the boot. I know they enjoy the money I will guarantee them at least. Massachusetts doesn't seem forgiving due to their top tier school excellence expectations, but hell if all this effort I am putting in now is worth a damn you best know I'll be applying to some good schools :)

You think I even have a chance? I'm eye balling Boston University, Tufts, North Eastern, Boston College, and Umass Amherst, Umass Boston as my backups. I'll be sarcastically applying to MIT and Harvard as well, though I know that since I am not a musical/sports savant there is no way they'd accept me. Hoping for an accidental acceptance there.

Any advice or criticism would be fantastic..

Thanks everybody! Love the website.
