I know this seems a little random, but I'm just curious. How many hours a week do you guys spend on your most time- consuming extracurricular activities? My hours were 20/15/6/6. I averaged my times out, because some weeks I do it more than others, and I'm afraid that the adcoms might see my hours as an exaggeration.

My most involved activity I spend about 25 per week (cross country). Then my second most involved would probably be Irish dancing, which is about 12 hours. Then after that they go down to single digits.

Mine were all single digits. I don't play any sports, however--all of my activites were FBLA, Model UN type things. I work two part-time jobs, however, so I'm hoping that that will make up the difference.

50 hours a week for ROTC, 50 weeks per year. (We're yearround.)

Wow, 10 hours a day?

that's 2500 hours!! Holy ****!

My most involved activity was mock trial. We spent about 15 hours per week working on it. And then my job is also 15 hours/week. The rest of mine were in the single digits.

I think anything over 10 will look very "sketchy." Tlaktan, man I am sorry but I just dont believe you. There is no way you spend 50 hours a week on an EC, no offense. Anyway, I dont think the hours are that important. Jangel, so you spent 3 hours after school everyday, even fridays?

Brenner, I disagree. I played soccer (and lax in the spring) for just about 3 hours a day, often even on Saturdays, so I put the hours at 15, I think.

My other "main" activity came to about 12 hrs a week, given how much time I spend on it during school as well as after school, everyday. There are also looong monthly events for this activity, which bumped up the average amt of hours.

Lauren my post was not directed at athletics, which can easily be a high number. My guideline for the hours spent was how long meetings were etc.

Oh okay. Just checking.

well, in my marching band, we usually go between 2 and 3 hours after school, M-F, so those hours really add up. It's usually 12-15 hrs a week for me, but I've had 25 hour weeks before.

Yeah, we had it for 4 hours during school for electives, plus 2 hours every day after school, and then usually for 3-4 hours on saturday or sunday. It was crazy and took up all of my time

i was afraid that, adding up all my hours, they would total over the possible number of awake hours I could have!

luckily that didn't happen.

i ranked two of my activites at 40 a week...i do a lot of stuff on the weekends, and so i averaged those in...do you think the admissions committee will think im insane?
