I run cross country and track and am decent, but I don't want to be recruited by coaches. Can I still click yes on my activities list where I list varsity cross country and track to indicate that I intend to walk-on? Or will they see me as inconsistent for not filling out the athletic supplement? Or will they call up my coach and try to recruit me anyway? Also, if a coach tries to recruit you and doesn't like you, can it negatively affect your admissions decision??

Even if you want to walk on you should still fill out the recruiting questionair.

I think the Supplement should be completed if you definitely want to play V in college and have played V in HS. A coach you haven’t already been in touch with is not likely to start to recruit you now unless you have great times, etc., but sometimes there are different pre-season try-out opportunities. Completion of the Supp w/ good times, results may let you try out w/ returning players, etc., instead of total newbies who haven’t been on the radar scren at all.

18:38 5K, 11:18 2-mile, 5:17 mile. do you think they will try to recruit me?

Here are good tables to check your times in:

[Women’s Track Recruiting Guidelines](http://www.ncsasports.org/recruiting-tools/track/womens-track-recruiting-guidelines)

Are you a male or female? If you’re a female your times are good enough to be recruited at some of the ivys. If you’re a male I don’t think you’re good enough to be recruited.

Meant to include the men’s tables too:

[Men’s Track Recruiting Guidelines](http://www.ncsasports.org/recruiting-tools/track/mens-track-recruiting-guidelines)

I’m confused. Do you want to run in college or not?

i’m female, thanks. the thing is, i’m not sure if i want to run yet, so i dunno if i should try to get recruited. is getting recruited a commitment?

yes. yes. yes. yes. It is seriously looked down upon to get recruited and not play (or run, in your case). Granted, not everyone stays on all four years, but at the ivys you’re really meant to. In the ivy league, you can quit any time… but if this is a national letter of intent school then you would be required to play the entire year. With the NLOI you can not sign for the next year, but that would terminate any athletic scholarships you were receiving.

If you are a current senior (which i presume you are), you will most likely NOT get recruited at this point in the year (most people start Junior year, summer after Junior year at the latest - for some sports coaches start scouting as early as freshman year!). All recruit spots will be full, but I’m sure you could get the coach to write a letter for you!
