ACTUAL AP Chemistry Curve?

Does anyone know the actual AP Chemistry Exam curve?

Some review books and threads say 85/150, others say 100/150, and some are even saying 115/150 (for a 5) so what is it actually? anyone know?

It depends on how difficult the AP chemistry test is each year.

Are you saying it varies by as much as 30 pts? lmao does anyone know the average – must be within 5-6 pts haha

Of course it varies. My chemistry teacher told me it was a raw score of 95 for a 5.

Same, my teacher told me that 105 was the cutoff

It just depends on how well the students perform that year. It can vary greatly from year-to-year.

how do you even calculate your raw score? how are you getting 150? from what i’ve heard, usually a 65-75% is a 5.

^^^^^^^115/150 is ridiculous

^^^^^^this year’s ap test was definitely easier

^^^^^I’d say a 105/150 to a 110/150 (highly, highly, unlikely) is in the safe range, but that is already an EXTREMELY high average for a 5.

^^^^95 would have been the median range maybe. But there is literally no reliable, defined curve for ap chem. It has varied by like 25 points (out of 160, however).

^75% is a bit high, there probably is some formula with multipliers and all to calculate it out of 160 or 150. just use simple math, the mc is 50% (80 points) and the frq is 50% (80 points) for a total of 100% (160 points).

For those of you who have already received the score for the May 2010 AP chemistry (through edna on July 1st, through your college portals, through your teachers, through the mail, etc.), how would you say the curve was? Please make note of your predicted/expected scores v. your actual score. Tell us what YOU thought was the raw cutoff score for a 5. Was it 105/160? 115/160?
