Can anybody tell me what the 2010 curve for AP Chemistry was like? I'm getting really antsy. They still haven't arrived in southern Florida. What raw score out of 160 would you say was a 5? Do you think the curve was harsh or lenient? How do your predicted/expected scores compare with your actual score?

All I can say is predicted=actual. 5. The test was extremely easy compared to older tests though so the curve will probably be pretty harsh.

I got a high 4.

Thank you for that insight Engineerjw.

@Engineerjw
How much was a high 4? A 65%?
What do you think the cutoff for a 5 was? 70%?

^ Not sure. On my practice MCs I would hardly ever get 70%, but I did get good raw scores (67ish). Still got a 5 on the real thing though.

Wait, how do you know?

the new test after 2007 is out of 150 points. I think the curve this year was around 105/150 but im not sure

I walked out feeling I did well, and I got a 5.

This is for those who will panic about their scores next year… you can take a look at the FRQs at the collegeboard website and see how easy our exam was in comparison to other years. Nevertheless, I messed up.

Multiple Choice (at least 4x, worst case scenario: 12x, real total: probably 6-8x)
FRQ (Part A: worst case scenario: 14/28, probably 17/28)
(I skipped c, d, e, and f of the first question which was 10 points on AgBr; I did not correctly write units for the second question, rounded wrong on a third question, and answered two parts of the second question incorrectly)
FRQ (Reactions: 100%)
FRQ (5, 6: worst case scenario: 12/16, probably 14/16)

Breakup:
MC: 50%
Part A Calculations: 30%
Reactions: 5%
Last Two Questions: 15%

I still got a 5 somehow.
From what I’ve said, the score should not vary much from there.
Worst case: 114/160 or 107/150
Best case: 133/160 or 125/150 (highly unlikely)
Projected: 117/160 to 120/160; 110/150 to 113/150
I hope that’s accurate. I know it’s not reliable at all but it’s something.
