Actually going?

"My d has been accepted to Clemson-no way I'd let her be a gamecock!"

Oh really? So if your daughter really had her heart set on USC, you wouldn't let her go? Perhaps you would threaten not to pay for her education there? Pardon me sir/ma'm, but this just sounds like bad parenting. Let's not let our own emotional feelings get in the way of our childrens' future desires and ambitions.

Good grief! I can't believe you took my comment seriously. You all need to chill out! My d is going to go to which ever school she chooses regardless of financial aid offered or which schools her father and I attended!

Is that bad parenting? Being willing to get in debt so your child can go to the school of her choice?

I was simply trying to embody the Clemson v. USC school spirit. My intent was not to have you critique my parenting. My God!

wow..lol, i laughed when i saw that. I didnt take it seriously at all, i thought it was funny actually. Maybe its because im from SC and understand the rivaly between the schools and he/she isnt...idno...it was just funny that they took it serious

rpksail--I knew that you were joking!

Thanks- I couldn't figure out how my remarks could be so misinterpreted until I looked at the threads to all the different schools the "SATer" was apart of-USC, Notre Dame, Stanford, UPENN, Carenegie Mellon, U of Ga and realized he/she knew nothing of the great traditions between the Tigers and the Gamecocks. At both schools you can get a terrific education but what is unique is the intense school spirit-no one from south Caolina is indeifferent when it comes to these two schools.

That being said, I'm glad I'm a Tiger alum versus a little dirty bird alum.

I'm with you all the way rpksail since I'm also a Clemson alum! Go Tigers!

Okay, I've tried to stay quiet. rpksail, I know how you feel. I'm a diehard Gamecock fan and it is truly amazing to me that I have a child who would even consider applying to Clemson - much less actually be very, very impressed once she visited! I, too, understood where you were coming from in your earlier post. Although I can't let this post end without saying "How about that Gamecock baseball team?"

Webbie, to be fair, I need to say that not only am I a Clemson alum, but after I got married, I went to USCU and got a degree in education. So, I'm actually an alum to both. Pretty weird, but glad that I can say positive things about both schools. Both schools have a lot to offer. But, I will have to admit that my "blood runneth orange" since that is where I went right after high school.

Yeah, I was also kidding, but what the hey. Sorry to cause any offense. Where your daughter goes is no business of mine.

And I feel I have a pretty good comprehension of the rivalry; my brother went to USC.

Webbie- I was holding my breath hoping you wouldn't bring up this past weekend's trouncing we #2 Tigers took from you #4 Gamecocks. When I heard the 12-0 score I felt truly ill. When I heard the following day's score of another loss 3-2 I couldn't believe it!

Are you sure that your pitcher, Harris Honeycutt, wasn't a pro MLB player in a previous life? How can I college kid pitch a 7 inning shut out?

He looked good!

Clemson probably should have been able to turn a double play in that last inning. We had a rough year (by our standards) last year, so maybe it's our turn this year. :)

Webbie- you know I can't agree that it's the Gamecocks "turn this year!" Tigers will come back and rule and climb back up the rankings!

Thanks for the advice, Lukester. I've looked very thoroughly into the Bridge program. From what I can tell its mainly aimed towards SC residents and minorities. I might as well stay in state for the first semester, since I'm "guaranteed" admission second semester. Thanks anyway!
