Planning to attend Clemson?

Anyone out there planning to attend Clemson?

I think I will apply to Clemson, and I would not mind going there. My first choice by far, though is Furman.

D has been accepted but we have not visited yet. We plan to visit end of March so she can make her decision

Son did a summer program there. The dorms were the worst I've ever seen!

Thanks sideways. This is Ds safety but I do insist she visit since she got a nice merit aid package. We'll make extra sure to visit the dorms based on your feedback.

I like to think I'm not overly bias because I was born and raised a Gamecock (go USC!), but I think the dorms at Clemson are a lot like they are at other big public schools. There are definitely some older ones among them (usually where they put people in residential summer programs) but there are also some nice knew ones...I would imagine especially nice if you are in the honors college. I visited a friend at Clemson this past fall semester before the Clemson-Wake Forest football game and his apartment style dorm was really nice (he's only a sophomore too).

I got accepted a couple weeks ago, and am going to Clemson in the fall!! I can not wait! I am from hilton head, sc. Where are you from?

I would hope so. I would just make sure I saw more housing than the nice dorm they show you on tour. I would want to be sure.

I would say you have the right idea sideways...talk to current freshmen and find out the real deal (not what admissions wants you to think).

My D thought she wanted to go to Clemson until she visited. Very dirty and the food was terrible.

Hmmmm - My H & my S were there for the National Scholars weekend and absolutely loved the place. We also have a friend there who is a Freshman (lives in Manning) and she LOVES it - can't say enough good things about it.

My S had the same experience as your D kayjo. He was in a summer program though. I hope they do better during the school year. We did love the area around Clemson and the grounds.

Hi I'm a current freshman at CU studying Computer Engineering If you have any questions for me ask away. I know pretty much anything about this campus.

Well the freshman dorms are usually pretty run down due to the fact that they are freshman dorms. Think of the freshman dorms as a learnign experiance. Johnstone A&B are probably the worst dorms on campus yet they are easily filled (we lovingly call it "The Stone"). The low rises for the First Year Experiance are nice and close to the football stadium. The high rises are probably the most hated because they have no redeeming qualities. Thats pretty much freshman housing.

Clemson House is where I live, the carpeting is kind of run down and each floor has its own smell due to the many foreing exchange students that cook in there. CHouse has its own dining hall, workout area, 2 study areas, and activity area (it used to be a hotel). Many residents here like to think about the penthouse which lies on the 8th floor, this is where Clemson officianatos has their parties. Clemson has many apartments as well. Calhoun Courts are ugly on the outside, nice on the inside. Lightsey Bridge 1 is pretty nice all around. Lightsey II is the nicest dorm/on campus living youll ever see its amazing but costly.

Clemson dining is a mixed bag. I personally think that it has some of the better food I've experianced at a campus before. They just redid all the dining halls. The biggest change is harcomb, any upperclassmen can recall the horrors of Clemson Dining of yor. Heres their site, at the bottom there are links to dinign halls menus. They definatly arnt boring.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

Hey, I saw your post, and I am also going to Clemson in the fall of 2005. I am also looking for a roommate. Alot of my friends didn't get into Clemson so I am trying to find someone nice and normal to live with. Please feel free to e-mail me if you are also looking for a roommate.

I'm planning to apply to Clemson for Fall 2006...I already visited the campus on the last weekend in June with my boyfriend. After viewing the campus, I have to say that it was perfectly fine in my opinion. I would be glad to attend Clemson, as compared to staying up here in the Philadelphia area.

To [CU] Pere...What do you think of the engineering program at CU? I am a senior, have been accepted, have visited, and would consider CU my top choice. How are facilities? On another note, what's the social scene like?
