<p>I think it is admissions committee. Though one time I used adcon to mean admissions counselor, I think everybody uses adcom.</p>
<p>Somehow someone got off on the wrong foot of using "adcom" as an abbreviation for "admissions committee," and then thousands of people (mostly on CC) started using it as an abbreviation for "admissions officer," which is laughable to any real admissions officer who works on an admissions committee, where this abbreviation is not used.</p>
