I’ve heard that college admissions officers have been known to cruise these forums and check the chances threads. Is this true? Is their proof of this happening? and does it happen often?

Well, since a lot of people working in admissions are college students themselves, I wouldn't be surprised. Still, I highly doubt they're taking notes on everyone. ;)

But...if they are....SEND ME FEE WAIVERS. waves arms wildly

for MIT, some of the adcoms actually have CC accounts like Ben Jones.

There is also a CalTech adcom here too, but they usually only stay on the CalTech and MIT forums

Michelle Hernandez, who wrote "A is for Admission" (former adcom), posts occasionally in the Parents' Forum.

Is that the one by the former Duke committee member? I think I might've seen it at the library.

No, Michele is ex-Dartmouth. It's Rachel Toor (gag) that's ex-Duke.

Sorry about that; couldn't help myself.

Heh, no problem. What's wrong with Toor? I saw the book but didn't check it out. Am I better off that way?

Gaa! 7 posts and it's hijacked. Please, although I'm interested in book reviews, I'm curious about the presence of adcoms on CC, so if anyone else has info...

You are definitely better off -- adults and high school students -- not to have read the book. I advise you not to. And since I won't be accused of hijacking the thread, do PM me if you're curious.

I know CMU adcoms post in its forum.

r there any UC adcoms?
