Last week, I had a second interview over Skype. The day earlier, I received an email from the man reading my application, and he said that he hoped to meet me and learn more about me. The interview went well overall (I wouldn’t say outstanding, but well and I provided him some additional info that I think definitely will strengthen my application). I think I am a very strong candidate for Harvard, with top grades and scores (like most), unique and outstanding extracurriculars, as well as the ability to play a sport at Harvard as a walk-on (I won’t say which one, but I am a strong prospect although I was not recruited because I chose not to be).
Does anyone have insight behind the reasons for a second interview? My alumni interview in January went very well. In my meeting with my admissions officer, he said that he liked my essays and seemed genuinely impressed when I talked about some of my extracurriculars. I think the committee is meeting soon. Perhaps I am a borderline candidate and they wanted to learn more about me?
Thanks!
