Addicted to Applying to Colleges

Hello,
I am currently a senior in high school and I think I have an addiction to applying to colleges.
Whenever I see an email from some random noncompetitive college asking me to apply for free to their school I apply even though I have no intention of going there.
I was only going to apply to 6 instate school but I’ve applied to about 14 schools and that number is ever increasing.
My parents have no idea about my problem since I apply only to schools that waive my fee so I never ask for money from them.
I think a lot of it stems from my anxiety of not having other options if I don’t get into my first choice school which I have a 50/50 chance of getting into.
Any advice, jokes, or comments from people who have a similar issue would be awesome.

How are you paying to send them test scores? I get wanting to hedge your bets- my D20 applied to more schools than intended because she was worried she wouldn’t get in anywhere, and now so far she has all acceptances so it feels a bit silly. Maybe you could try deleting emails from schools you haven’t already applied to/researched without even reading them. Then you can’t be tempted.

Well, better too many than too few! This will all be over soon. You can look back and laugh and/or have great advice for someone else. Try to relax and enjoy the rest of your senior year. Sounds like you have this covered.

At least you’re addicted to affordable schools  There’s worse things you could be addicted to, don’t worry. You’re fine.
