I changed my schedule during my open enrollment period. I chose 3 classes and 1 lab but now I want to add a math class and attend class for a few days and see if I can handle it. If after the first few days I decide I don’t want to take it anymore can I drop it? Also I cannot add classes anymore from the student center because it says my open enrollment period is over. Does this mean I can’t add anymore classes at all or do I have to wait until tomorrow?

If you enroll in the class and want to attend for a few days before making a decision, you’ll have until the 8th day of instruction to drop. Cal Poly will email right before school starts or at the very beginning of the quarter notifying you about add/drop deadlines and what dates those happen to be. Personally, I wish they gave you a little more time to decide if you want to drop a class or not cause sometimes it’s hard to tell what the class is like or how the teacher is in such a short amount of time.

And for your second question, I think it means you have to wait until tomorrow

What is the latest you can ADD a class? Say I don’t like one class and I drop it but I want to replace it with another. Is that 8 days also?

Yup. Add/drop/swap as well as declaring credit/no credit/audit, etc. all has to be done within 8 days.
