Is it too awkward thing to do? I mean I think it would be a nice idea to keep connection with my previous professors that I particulalry liked
if you were friends with them then go for it, im sure they wouldn’t mind. if you barely knew them then i would say no.
LinkedIn yes, Facebook no until after graduation
I think the best way to stay connected is to send them an email once in a while or visit them in person, but linkedin is a great way too. Several of my professors have told us to add them on linkedin because it is a great way to keep up with past and present students and link them up with various opportunities. Also this may depend on your relationship with your professor or how well you knew them, but I am currently friends with two of my professors on facebook and I don’t graduate for another few years
It is fine. LinkedIn is for professional relationships, not friends – it is not like Facebook. Example of how it could help you: my D1’s company is looking for new employees with certain majors/expertise, and she recently emailed a prof from her college in that major to see if they are in touch with any former students who might be interested. A student with a LinkedIn connection could benefit from that.
Check their profile and see if they have connected with other students
