I have read about reaching out to admission counselors if a kid has some new information to add once an application has been submitted. I think it would be appropriate if a big award has been received or a kid has placed well in a major competition. However, I don’t know what the threshold should be. My D applied to several LACs where she submitted an arts supplement as part of her application. While she does not intend to major in theater, she would like to be involved in plays in college. She recently earned the lead role in her high school’s big spring musical. Is that something that should be shared with admissions, or is that annoying?
I think a short update on the college portal or an E-Mail to admissions is fine.
I would say that if your D has a history of involvement and large roles in shows then I would not email admissions as it the new role would essentially would be a continuation of what she has already done. If this involvement in theater is something completely new then a short and sweet update would be fine.
GCs are also in the process of submitting mid-year reports (with the 7th semester transcripts). Make sure that the GC also mentions it.
Ok thanks. The mid-year reports were already sent. D has had some larger roles in previous plays but getting this one is a pretty big accomplishment in her drama program.
Yes, I would encourage her to email the regional admissions counselor at the college (the one in charge of your state) directly, rather than the generic admissions email. It shows interest and keeps her on the radar.
