Adding weightlifting/bodybuilding to extracurriculars

Would it make me look bad to add weight lifting to my extracurriculars? I am an adult and this is pretty much the only form of "sports" I can fit into my schedule. It has really helped me mentally and physically and I spend at least 300-400 hours a year in the gym, not to mention spending time on my diet and nutrition. I don't want to make the wrong impression by adding it to my app on EC's- do you think it would?

Don’t see why it would look bad. Or are you afraid of the assumption of performance enhancing drugs that are associated with that activity? You could say that you are into natural bodybuilding if you do not use performance enhancing drugs.

I am just worried it may look “lame,” maybe there is a better way to word it than just weight lifting haha. Also, I am worried about how I could even report this if my volunteer/extracurriculars were audited. The gym I go to keeps track of my check-ins to the gym… So I guess that would be a way to prove it? And yes, I am all natural haha…

I’m pretty sure they won’t ask for proof of you attending the gym lol. I heard from someone that uc reps barely ever ask for proof. If they do, it’s usually for something big. Like, ik someone that was once audited bc they said they where a soccer referee. So they sent some proof to the admins.

Naaa, you’ll be fine. Put it on your application. It’ll be interesting, and frankly, that can’t hurt you.

Same here. I was going to put them on my app but I realized they looked lame so I took them off.

Whatever you wish. It will never hurt your chances.

Among seniors, it’s not uncommon in some parts of the country, where it’s offered at the hs. But if you devote 300-400 hours annually, plus diet and nutrition-- sure hope you also found time for other non-sports ECs.

For your personal statement just write “do you even lift”

lol ^^^^ but in all seriousness

Yes, it’s fine. It shows them you don’t just sit around and watch tv all day, so that’s always a plus.
