Extracurriculars?

I'm curious as to what you guys think can be counted as an "extracurricular" in the UC application (aside from the obvious). Can, for example, teaching oneself a language or doing heavy chores be mentioned???

teaching yourself language=yes
heavy chores=no, but maybe mention it in your personal statement if you were desperate hahahhaha

but thats a good question…i would say things that are intellectual, like tutoring, or maybe physically challenging, like a sport.

You should put down “brushing teeth” as an EC. My friend did that, admissions officers thought it was funny, and he got into ucla.

Thanks redoplease!
@ Investment: did your friend really do that? I mean, it seems like a great way to grab the admissions reps attention, right? On the other hand, they could have just as well deemed it as a joke and rejected your friend…

Well he had a great gpa and essay. He messed around on his ECs and awards. He won an amateur hot wing eating contest and he put that down under his awards as well. Got into ucla for econ, no joke.
