I’ll pay full price lol. It’s one of the cheaper colleges I’m applying to. I don’t really care about the boat at this stage, more of just getting in!

We do not practice yield protection. Thankfully, I have never felt any pressure about this at UVa.

Hmm, alright thanks for that Dean J. I assume that “demonstrated interest” does come into play when people are placed on the waitlist. I think I remember reading that on your blog somewhere.

Also, I’m submiting my app hopefully by the end of the week and have yet to take any SAT II’s. I’m taking them on both the December and January date. I know you start reviewing applications as they come in. So if I’m denied before my SAT II’s come in, will they still be considered? Also, should I send in a copy of my first quarter grades with my application (I recieved straight A’s this quarter and my app will more than likely be reviewed before my second quarter grades are released.)

We read in rounds. Most apps won’t get their final decision until mid-March.

Alright, thanks again for your help Dean J - appreciated as always.

Speaking of love letters to UVA –
The UVA Supplement (like most college supplements) has drop-down boxes to identify “legacy” status. Both of my cousins went to UVA, loved it, and have easily convinced me to apply. However, there is no where on the UVA supplement to indicate my relationship to UVA through my cousins – in otherwords, there is no where on the supplement to tell UVA that I have a family relationship with UVA through my cousins. How and where can I show UVA that relationship?

I’m sorry, Kelly, but a legacy is a student with parents or step-parents who are alumni. Your cousins won’t be a factor in the review of your application.

Dean J, how long does it take for UVA to receive SAT scores from College Board? I took mine in November and was wondering.

edit:

Also, I’m going to submit my application to UVa today. I’m taking SAT II’s in December, but I selected that on my CommonApp and will leave those blank for them to come in later (the results don’t come back until December 23rd, but I want to submit my application now). Also, is it okay if I haven’t sent my teacher recommendations yet? And these get sent to the admissions office right?
