My teacher just gave me the what is probably the best recommendation anyone could ask for. It is approximately 3 pages long with a plethora of beautifully written metaphors; in fact, it seems to mirror more of a creative writing piece, than just your average well-written recommendation.

There is one problem though. I already sent in my two teacher recommendations. They were good recommendations, but nothing compared to this new one.

My question is: can I still send this last recommendation even if it is a little late, and I already have 2 others in my file? Thanks

bump, I have the same question, although other's here have already told me to send it. A cover letter explaining would be proper. As long as its complimentary its good, if it restates other stuff, you just wasted Harvard's time - not cool for them. So, it seems the letter is written really well, and portrays you differently so go ahead. Get creative.

A 3-page letter filled with a plethora of beautifully written recommendations is not really the best recommendation you could ever ask for. First, three pages is WAY TOO LONG (I believe recommendations are not supposed to be more than one page), and second, metaphors are not as important as CONTENT. You can always try sending it, but people might not actually read it. If you REALLY think the CONTENT is different, and not just the writing style, send it. But honestly, the qualities you mentioned above seem to speak more about your TEACHER'S writing style than necessarily about YOUR abilities. But if you think it says something different, totally send it. If admissions people don't want to read it, they won't.

Harvard is very open about reading most of what people send them... but this year is going to be very tight with time and the number of apps. Keep them short, but do send them.

Harvard requires the Mid-Year report by February 1st. But they say that since different schools have different time schedules, it can be submitted later, but to hurry.

My teacher will have my letter by Monday, so I want to send them together. Is Monday pushing it? And do I have to rush mail it, because it costs ... quite a bit?
