I have just gotten email from Columbia about admissible transfer credits,
37
I had 146, um
preposterous ?

any one experiencing same situation?

I might defer it to fall and apply for UC schools, might save a year or so of my money and tuition.

Wow that’s really low… I had about the same as you, and i received 60. What schools are they from?

As far as I know, 60 is still the cap.

There’s a whole host of reasons that credits wouldn’t transfer. In some cases, like with math classes, credits are sort of perishable and last just a few years. If the credits are from an unaccredited institution, they may not transfer. There’s quite a few more but you get the drift.

Pick up the phone and call GS. Get the scoop directly from them. I’m sure they’ll be open to talking with you about it.

From everything I’ve heard that’s very unusual. I agree with Jan, call GS and get the details. I’d honestly guess they just didn’t process a transcript or something.

What sort of credits were lost? What school? I know only some military programs are properly accredited, and GS doesn’t take some pre-professional/vocational courses (e.g., my brother took motorcycle maintenance at City College SF, I’m sure GS wouldn’t accept that). However if it’s similar to any class offered at Columbia everything I’ve heard is that they tend to be generous. So again, give 'em a call and find out what’s up. There’s probably a clear and simple reason, and possibly a fix.

If there’s debate arm yourself with syallbuses, course descriptions, names of textbooks, etc for any class you want to have counted.
