So my grades have severely dropped from A’s and B’s to:
English: D
Honors Economics: B
Government: B or A
IB environmental: D or F
AP stats: D
Gym: A
because of a very bad family issue, I have not been accepted yet but I am worried because I hear back 2/1 and mid year reports are sent out 1/23. Should I call admissions and talk to them? This is by far my worst semester!
I am sorry for your difficult family situation. Your instincts are correct about calling admissions and explaining your situation, and you should do so as soon as possible.
Be prepared to explain the reason behind the decline in your grades and what your plan of action is going to be to bring them back to where they were before.
The counselors I have met seem sincerely interested in working with students, not against them. That being said, they have a responsibility to MU to recruit students who enhance the university, so it is important you can explain that your case is unique and not a matter of a student not exerting effort during senior year.
Here is the directory of counselors:

Good luck to you, and I hope things improve for you very soon.
