Admission Chance at UF?

I am very anxious and scared of getting into UF. I loved the school and I really want to go there. The labs there were amazing and hearing the chem engineering teacher’s research excited me a lot, this is my dream school.
With results coming back February, I’m very scared.

I’m very dedicated in my courses and school, but also outside of class.

Unweighted GPA: 3.96
Weighted GPA: 4.94

Class rank: 43/828, in the top 5% of my class.

College Classes: I dual-enrolled online with UF and took Analytical Geometry and Calculus III, passed it with an A (91%)

EC: I’ve been in Orchestra since I was in 6th grade, played the viola, intend to keep playing it in UF (if I get in). I’m in National Honor Society, 2 years including this year, Science National Honor Society, this year, and Mu Alpha Theta, this year too.

Volunteering- I did a bit more than 100 hours in one of Orange County’s Libraries as a volunteer, I’ve volunteered with all my clubs doing things such as cleanups of the school, recycling, tutoring other students in math and science subjects, helped teachers out, etc.

Awards: AP Scholar with Distinction.

Key: Both my grandparents were Gators. I went on a campus tour, met a chemical engineering professor who told me a lot about the school and her research and this combination just made me fall in love with the school. I spent a few days and a lot of time on the application.

Is UF first choice? Yes

Other schools applied for: First choice, first submitted application was UF, then came Santa Fe College, and FSU. Also applied to Stanford, Yale, Princeton, Vanderbilt, and Rice through Questbridge, Pending.

Major/Field of Study: Engineering, applied to UF as materials engineer but I’m also interest immensely in biomedical engineering and/or chemical engineering.

I appreciate some help with this, I’m currently very stressed about this but I hope I will get into this amazing school.

Thank you.

WISH ME LUCK!

Are you seriously worried about getting into Gainesville but your other schools are Stanford, Yale, Princeton, Vanderbilt, and Rice? Doesn’t it seem likely you’ll get into Gainesville?

Your only delimma will be selecting which of these wonderful colleges to attend. I think you are a sure bet for UF, FSU and as a Questbridge Finalist you are a strong contender for the other five. (My son is a QB Finalist also). Good luck!

I would be extremely surprised if you don’t get into UF. You may have heard of eligible applicants being rejected for no apparent reason, but from what I can tell, your stats are high enough that you shouldn’t have to worry about that. Rest easy.

Since you are in state, the best way to gauge your chances is by looking at the recent history of the graduates of your high school. If you school uses Naviance or similar tool, that is an easy way to check. Else, your guidance counselor should be able to tell you the typical profile of accepted students from your high school to UF.

My experience and opinion is that UF knows every high school in Florida, has experience with the graduates from each high school and has a pretty good idea of how many from each high school to accept each year. So, if you look at the data and they typically accept the top 5%, 10% or whatever, you can estimate that is what they will accept this year. I am sure that there are some variations from year to year, but it will give you the best estimate.

Since your SAT is on the high end of the 25-75% range, that should not be an issue and then it is a matter of being in that typical class rank range for your high school and your extracurriculars and essay being solid.
