In June (2016) i was caught stealing a tshirt, i was convicted, and the case was dismissed. It hasn’t been expunged as of yet, so it’s still on my record. I want to know how badly this could hurt my chances of getting into schools? Especially UNC at Asheville, which is my top choice, but I’m afraid to apply for early admissions and enter myself for scholarships if this issue is still on my record. Any answers are appreciated I’m terrified no universities will accept me even though it’s such a minor crime.

It’s hard to say. But if you let them know in your notice of disclosure on your application that the courts are expunging this at X date, then it shouldn’t be a huge issue. But it’s hard to say. If you get a Javert (from Les Miz) on your ad committee. Best of luck.
