I was wondering if UVA releases a date and time when the application decision prior to the April 1st release date. Many schools release before the given date. I am pretty excited. 108 days.

It is usually 5pm. Some years it is a day early and some years it is not. It will be announced. I know Dean J puts it on her blog when she knows.

Do you know when she put it on her blog? All of these early-decisions are making me excited haha.

Some students (not sure how many) receive “likely letters” in March. It’s not an official acceptance; however, I’ve never heard if someone getting a likely who wasn’t accepted. I can’t remember the exact date they are released. (Perhaps someone else will chime in with this info.) I do recall D had received it before spring break last year which for her was 3/13-3/21.) I don’t believe many of these are sent out; however, for those who receive one, they can start visualizing the possibilities of attending. In short, it puts the school on their radar before the others letters come 4/1. D got one for UNC as well, so I know they utilize likelies too. I don’t know which other schools have them. Be patient (easier said than done)…April 1 will be here before you know it!

Check out Dean J’s blog for her posts in March 2009 and 2010: [Notes from Peabody: The UVA Application Process: Notification Update!](Notes from Peabody: The UVA Application Process: Notification Update!).

I post throughout the reading season to give updates about where we are in the process. We usually know if we can notify early in the middle of March.

If we can’t notify early, the date is April 1.
If we can notify early, I post the date as soon as I know it.

By the end of the process, we are really, really excited to notify, so I literally fly to the keyboard to dash off the blog update with the date.

EDIT: I just watched the 2009 video. I can’t tell you all how hard it was for me to make a 30 second video, in a rush, with my hands shaking. I’ll try to do something similar this year, but I fear my iMovie skills aren’t much better.

A previous post said only a very small percentage of accepted students at UVa get a “Likely to be Admitted” letter before April. Therefore, don’t be worried if you don’t get one.

i heard they announced yesterday?

OH WAIT THAT WAS DUKE. LOLOLOL

but seriously theman44, i have a feeling that youre an amazing applicant. any college would be dumber than physics not to take you
