<p>This seems a little off topic now, but going back to the OP, I have to say our school had a very different experience in that the 'high academic achievers' in our public HS had an INCREDIBLY GOOD year for admissions. No HYP, but they (including URM students) got into some fantastic schools and have the luxury of being very happy for each other. If there's any division, I'd say it's that the group of top students in our HS is quite girl-heavy, though I guess that's generally true nowadays.</p>
